The American Institute of Consumer Studies (AICS) operates as an independent research company to gather information for a multitude of clients in a variety of industries. Our surveys are administered by various means including online, telephone, mail, and in-person.
AICS follows the Code of Standards and Ethics for Survey Research as outlined by the Council of American Survey Research Organizations (CASRO). Each year, AICS undergoes an independent audit by the Media Ratings Council to ensure their research standards are being met.
Consumers can rest assured that we conduct our research in an ethical and professional manner and that we protect the data we collect, as follows:
• Personal information and survey data are used strictly for research purposes in accordance with the CASRO Code.
• All Interviewers are thoroughly trained and tested.
• Study processes and procedures, including monetary incentives, are audited.
• All information is securely stored.
Survey research organizations commission us to conduct interviews and collect completed questionnaires on their behalf. The survey data that they and we analyze are projected to represent large populations (e.g. all U.S. consumers aged 18 and over) and are reported to product manufacturers, advertisers and/or publishers only in combination with others and in statistical form
During the research process, survey respondents’ personal information and survey responses may be disclosed to third parties, but these parties are contractually required to treat the information disclosed strictly for research purposes in accordance with the CASRO Code.
A key principle of the CASRO Code is that respondents’ participation in surveys must not result in any commercial activity directed at them, including direct marketing or sales. We and our research organization clients are firmly committed to upholding this critical market research principle.
